My Name is Charles Johnson. I grew up in Harlem during the 60's. I went to Catholic grammar school at Saint Mark's on 138th and Lennox Avenue which was run by the Sisters of The Blessed Sacrament. My mom had me baptized a Catholic when I was 9 because tuition was cheaper for Catholics. All students were required to go to church every Sunday. The sisters were very dedicated in their efforts to give inner city kids the best education possible. If they had any racist tendencies, I never saw or experienced it. But I also had two African America teachers, Mrs. Norcross in the 3rd grade and Mrs. Williams in the 5th. They taught me the importance of being proud of my history and why its necessary to stand up for truth. That's the reason for this blog. The power of the internet makes this conversation possible. Publications, TV and radio both black and white that depend on ad dollars, would never tackle this controversial subject.
Black Jesus.com is a place for exploring the truth about what Jesus truly looked like and why the denial and cover up of this truth negatively effects people of color all over the world, but especially where ever white Christianity has ever existed any where in the world. If you are new to this site and want to continue to believe in the lie that Jesus was white, blond and blue eyed, please don't bother to post any bigoted remarks. They will be immediately deleted. It is your right to believe what ever you choose. But if you feel it is important to finally know the truth, and why its been hidden, then we welcome your comments on this and any other subjects we will cover.
As a child, I often wondered why I saw no Black Angels or Saints in the pictures of St. Mark's Church. I wondered, don't Black people go to heaven? Is there a black heaven and a white heaven? But in high school at Cardinal Hayes in the Bronx in 1970, I began to raise this question in my religion class. My religion teacher, Father Mitchel became enraged when I said there was no way Jesus Christ could have been white, based on where Jerusalem is located and how sun exposed people looked during that time period. Rather than engaging me in a conversation and opening it up for class discussion, he became very angry, calling me blasphemous and demanded that I leave his class. Over the next 3 years this happened not once, but over three times.
Ironically, it was a white priest by the name of Father John Meehan, who came to my defense on several occassions to lobby on my behalf on the side of truth, against his fellow priests who refused to consider the facts. He also became, in many ways, the father figure I never had. To this day, he is still a dear friend.
Why are so many people afraid of the truth? What is this fear of dark skin and where does it come from? Why does this fear appear to be pervasive all over the world where white, brown and dark skin people try to coexist. As the originator of this blog, I want to explore the issue of race in the US and around the world that appear in the news, in sports, health care, and in every day life world wide. I invite all open minded people to post their ideas.
When you close your eyes, what does he look like? Most white people see Jesus and God as white and this empowers them. Some Caucasians falsely believe their supposed racial superiority starts here. For some Blacks, their image is the same, because they wonder 'If Jesus really did look like me, and he was the son of God, then why have darker people suffered so much through out history. Harriet Tubman, who led hundreds of slaves to freedom by way of the Undergound Railroad said she could have freed many more if they had just believed they should be free. This untrue Caucasian image of Jesus keeps all of us enslaved in a lie.
Good Times The Sitcom Explains This False Image In a Very Humerous Way.
Ricky you're missing the point of this blog.
It is to provide proof that Jesus was not
caucasion as is portrayed. We have provided
biblical and scientific proof (click on 'religion' link at top right). If you have proof to the contrary, please provide it. By the way, if half of your family is
Black, that means you have more than 1% Black blood. Based on dna testing and the prevailing rule of thumb, that makes you Black. But obviously you choose to consider yourself otherwise. Thanks for your posting.

First of all, not all white people are racist.I am Italian, and according to you Medditeranean, a term which I would prefer, but the rest of the world sees me as white.
More on topic, Jesus was not black. He was a Palestinian Jew. I have not known a single person who believes that Jesus was blond haired and blue eyed.Jesus was painted with the help of Saint Faustina who Jesus appeared to.Abraham lived in Ur and Caanan, which is in the middle east. The first humans also came from Mesopatamia, not Africa.Christianity is not a "white man's religion" because Jesus was not white, therefore saying it is a white man's religion would make no sense.

Gammari, thanks or your comments. They seem to be based on emotional anger that Jesus was a man of color. No where on this blog do I say all white people are racists. I would be a racist for saying it. If you are interested in the facts, I suggest you click on my "religion" link at the top right.

Jesus was not black, of Jewish decent he most likely looked similar to any typical middle eastern olive skin person. Not many pictures were painted on the wall on canvas for many reasons: the most important one is that they all (his disiples) thought that the end of time was coming soon. Though Jesus told them even I do not know the time of the end, but look for these signs... yet they were all sure the end was coming very soon, so they didn't bother to write down much or even keep photos.
The most important thing abut Jesus, actually is something organized religion doesnot teach. They go on and on about how he suffered for a few days and unjustly got killed... they all seemed to have missed the big picture... i will make my home in their hearts he says to them, feed a hungry man you fed me, etc... so if he was able to take his spirit and divide it up between all the hungry men, then what are we doing...??? How can we possibly be so cold to each other knowing that one man sacrificed his spirit to reside in all our hearts and yet we each every day give each other a heart ache. Hurt each other so much, and the irony of it all is we also will go and make our home with him, in those same hearts we make suffer. Are we that selfish, or just plain uninteligent or taught wrong? well... love each other, do not cause any heart ache to any other and you are then a Christian. Spirits are timeless so they do not have any matter, therefore, they can neither be black or white or flesh.

Jesus was of Middle-Eastern descent so it makes sense that Jesus was neither Black nor white but more likely the color of others of Middle-Eastern descent. But who cares what "color" he is, that doesn't change who he is or what he has done.

J you miss the point of this blog. While you
say "Who Cares?" CNN, Newsweek and Time care
enough to show Jesus as white, blond and blue eyed on a annual basis. As for what people in the Middle East looked like; those
in the desert of Jerusalem, where Jesus grew up where Black (dark skin). Thanks for your comments.

It doesn't matter about what color Jesus was. It matters about who He is and what He came to do. To me all this stuff about if Jesus was black or whatever other color is really irrelevant and is just another stupid attempt by the devil to cause division amongst people. Jesus loved all people regardless because we are all His children. Two things that the Lord wants from all his children 1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind & 2) Love your neighbor as yourself. We all have the same measure and God loves us all regardless of race and all that type of stuff. God bless and love to all!!!

I've always felt it was impossible for Jesus to have been white It's also true that understanding what He's done for us is more important than if He were pink or blue. To me it was kind of like the "Hitler theory" and people just didn't stop and think. It's so nice to have someone speak truth..
a/k/a white woman who speaks truth

we'll ur site is very interesting. i am a black woman and i must say that i do not agree that jesus was black or white but he was a jew just as the bible states. as you may well know jews in israel fit the description as jesus with copper skin and wooly hair. i agree that he is not portrayed properly with the blue eyes, white skin, and long flowing light brown or blonde hair. jesus looked like an ethnic semitic jew, not an ashkenaz (european) jew. but white he was not. it is really irrelevant though because anyone who follows his teachings would not be focused on his skin.

Best,
Tony

yes jesus could have been black... but people and many others; begin to become blinded, when the importance of race or coloring becomes a relevant matter.
when it concerns christ... all that matters is LOVE.
you the people blinded by your own haze rally for pro-peace AND pro-negativity.. it is corrupt to dwell so vividly on the negative matters of existence... dwelling on that which is negative, only puts more negativity before you. which is why one should always dwell on light, love, peace, and truth.
as of this black jesus thing going on here, it is sadening to see that to the people the color of his skin, his race, even matter.
what have we become?
for this is why there is an end at hand... 1,237 days from now.
there are 6 billion+ humans on the surface of mother earth in this very moment... but before the time is at hand, there shall be left; only 1.9 billion+ humans.
drop your wicked blind and feeble ways...
and reinherit the awareness and knowledge of your hearts. for in your heart god, the source, the creator, the destroyer, the almighty supreme one and only, waits.. for you. His children to reunite with him. for it is written. until ye become as little children thou shall not be welcome or find peace in the kingdom of heaven.

may that reason be clarified unto all that passeth my words embedded with light.
