There are striking parallels between the civil rights movement and the fight against apartheid. First Lady Michelle Obama tells young people in South Africa that the future belong to those who are willing to stand up and fight for change. Her message to young South African's is that the rest of the world to waiting for you to come to the table of world trade as a full partner and to lead your great country to a better tomorrow.
American Jews talk of their undying love and support for Israel. Irish, Italian, and Asian Americans all proudly talk of the connections they have with their native countries. For African Americans, we must realize that we have more of an affinity with Africa than we realize. Listen carefully to the First Lady's universal message of hope for all people. "You Are Your Brother's Keeper."
