As you look across all media, including TV commercials, you increasingly see black women paired up with white men. The creators of these shows, namely the writers and producers are far more comfortable with this kind of pairing. Better yet, the white males are seen having his choice of a black female on one side and a white female on the other. But seldom do you see black males playing leading, authoritative roles, with a supporting cast of white and black females. Hardly is this black male seen as intelligent, attrative, sexually appealing. And he is never seen as the powerful, attrative, smart businessman who is wanted by all women, let along another black female. Recently, Oprah Winfrey said during a Cosby Show Family Reunion, her most memorable Cosby Show was a scene when Bill Cosby laid his head in the lap of his wfe while she stroked his head. Oprah said she had never seen this on TV before and we have not seen it since. Depite the broad success of the Cosby Show and the strong father and husband he presented, we have yet to see another show featuring a successful, intelligent African American family in a loving, supportive enviornment. The Cosby Show was loved by blacks and whites alike. What do you think?
